All Arelith Warlocks have taken their pact voluntarily. Note: Good/accidental/forced Warlock RP is not supported. Drawing on the ancient knowledge of beings such as fey nobles, demons, devils, hags, or tempestuous powers of the deep, warlocks piece together arcane secrets to bolster their own power. Through pacts made with mysterious beings of supernatural power, they unlock magical effects both subtle and spectacular. Warlocks are seekers of the knowledge that lies hidden in the fabric of the multiverse. 2.5.7.1 Class Feats - Pact (Unseelie Fey).2.5.2.1 Class Feats - Pact (Fathomless).Yes, the Warlock has the potential to create an undead army in the most efficient way possible, but a DM is not gonna let the Warlock player sit in a corner doing nothing but take short rests and cast Animate Dead while the rest of the party does something else. The Warlock's Pact Magic feature is their greatest strength, yet their biggest weakness because of how abilities being replenished on short rests are very uncommon in most classes. The Warlock is the only class that regains spell slots on short rests outside of the Wizard's Arcane Recovery and the Circle of the Land Druid's Natural Recovery. Reason 2 can differ from table to table, but I've never seen players take more than one short rest in between each long rest if the DM even allowed them to take one that session. Unless you're on a battlefield or an enormous cemetery, you'll probably be going to have to search for bodies after the 4th time you cast the spell. If you were a high-level Warlock, you can cast Animate Dead at 5th level 4 times, you'd need 5 corpses every time you cast it if you wish to make the most out of each casting. The spell requires corpses for it to even work and how little people even use short rests. You have to take 2 things into consideration. While regaining spell slots for Animate Dead on a short rest sounds very OP. This is for those who believe adding Animate Dead to the Warlock's spell list is giving them too much power.
